Framea (“we”, “our”, “us”) is operated by HRNTechnology, INC. This policy explains how we handle your data.

What we collect

  • Account info: name, email address (via Google or Apple Sign-In)
  • Media you upload: photos and videos
  • Search queries within the app
  • Basic usage data (storage used, file counts)

How we use it

  • To provide the service: store, index, and search your media using AI
  • To authenticate your account
  • To improve app performance

AI processing

Your media is analyzed by AI (Google Gemini) to generate transcriptions, scene descriptions, object tags, and timestamps. This processing is automated; no human reviews your content.

Media you index in place

The Mac and iPhone apps can index media that stays on your device or drives, rather than uploading it to your library. What we send for analysis differs by media type, and we want to be precise about it:

  • Photos: only a small downscaled copy (around 768 pixels) is sent for analysis. The original never leaves your device.
  • Videos: the video file is uploaded so speech can be transcribed and motion understood, which is not possible from still frames alone. After analysis it is deleted from our servers and from the AI provider. We keep only the resulting index: descriptions, transcripts, timecodes and embeddings.

Playback of in-place media always opens the original file on your own device. We do not retain a copy.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data
  • We don't track you across apps or websites
  • We don't use your media to train AI models
  • We don't share your content with third parties (except cloud infrastructure providers necessary to run the service)

Data storage

Your media and account data are stored securely on Google Cloud infrastructure. Access tokens are stored securely on your device.

Data deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app settings. Upon deletion, all your media, search history, and account information are permanently removed from our servers.

  • Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In (authentication)
